World Class, Collection of the Work of the Late Grant Wahl, Set for June 2024

Ballantine Books will publish World Class: Purpose, Passion, and the Pursuit of Greatness On and Off the Field, a collection of the work of the pioneering sports journalist Grant Wahl, on June 4, 2024.

Wahl’s former Sports Illustrated colleagues Mark Mravic and Alexander Wolff edited the volume, and his widow, the infectious disease specialist and media figure Dr. Céline Gounder, wrote the foreword. More information about the book, which will also be available across e-book and audio formats, can be found here.

Wahl spent nearly 25 years on staff at Sports Illustrated before launching his Substack, Fútbol with Grant Wahl, in 2019. He made a further impact with podcasts, TV work, video series, a vibrant social media presence, and the books The Beckham Experiment, a New York Timesbestseller, and Masters of Modern Soccer. He collapsed and died of an aortic aneurysm at age 49 while covering the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in December 2002.
